Jamshedpur, Jan. 29: The three-day cultural extravaganza, Wheels 2008, came to an end with a rocking performance by fusion band Indian Ocean today. The band mesmerised the audience with their hit such as Ruk Ja Re Bande from the movie Black Friday and songs from their album Kandisa at Sumant Moolgaonkar Stadium. The inter-institute fest was organised by Graduate Engineers’, Trainee Club of Tata Motors. A lot of interesting events were lined-up for the cultural meet at Telco Club. On one hand there were events such as eastern vocals, western vocals and dance competitions. There were also events to test the business and stock quotient of participants. The Mr and Miss Wheel 2008 event, which took place on Monday, saw Kaushik Bhattacharjee and Ankita Rajan of Hill Top School emerging winners. One is a martial art expert, while the other is a classical dancer. The participants were asked general knowledge question, which was followed by talent hunt round. “Altogether we had four rounds where one round was the question-answer session and the other was talent show. In the other two, children walked the ramp. These two students stood apart from all the other candidates at the event,” said Bhaskar Bateja, a member of the Graduate Engineers Trainee Club. Other shows lined up included skit, ad mad, creative writing, western and eastern vocal and instrumental, and face painting. In the ad mad event, the participants had to create an advertisement with slogans and pictures on chosen fictional products. A game show called Stock Market stood out among all the other events. In the game the engineering students and corporate officials were given a virtual amount of Rs 1 lakh with which they could deal in shares of more than 30 companies listed in the BSE using a special software. “The other events were routine rounds, but this was the first time that Stock Market was conducted and evoked a very strong response from participants,” said a participant. Over 500 participants comprising school and college students, young engineers and members of different social and cultural club attended the cultural meet.
