Quotes @ Tatanagar

The rot in Iraqi Freedom and in the social engineering of Afghanistan is found in the lies used to justify it, and in the disgraceful lack of debate, discussion and concern shown by Americans, from senators and congressmen to those of us driving buses and balancing accounts.

Jamshedpur, Feb. 27: A special tête-à-tête with Bangladeshi film director Tariq Mashood is on cards during the International Film Festival this year.

Scheduled to take place in the steel city from March 14 to 26, the festival would have categories for students along with workshops designed to teach them the technical aspects of making movies. Titled “Pens to Lens”, a film appreciation workshop has been put into place to help school students grasp the technical knowledge of production. The event would also see the likes of actor-director Anjan Dutta and Shyamal Karmakar.

“After the five-day training workshop, the schoolchildren would come up with a film on Jamshedpur,” said Debashish Chakraborty, the secretary of Celluloid Chapter, the organiser of the mega event. Two separate sessions with college and management students have also been slotted during the festival.

The festival would also showcase movies from Italy, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Bangladesh, Cuba, Poland, Japan and Pakistan.

Five movies, including Taare Zameen Par, Bengali hit Kailashe Kelankari, Black Friday, Yatra and another recent Bollywood film would be screened in a separate section titled Indian Panorama.

The Namesake has been chosen as the opening movie in that section. A retrospective of Shyam Benegal’s films would also feature prominently.

“There is also a treat for regional movie watchers as a special movie has been reserved for them during the festival,” added the secretary of Celluloid Chapter.
