Jamshedpur, July 6: Tribals from different parts of the country took a pledge to improve their condition in a mega rally organised by Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) at Gopal Maidan today. Apart from Jhark hand, tribals from Orissa, Bihar, Assam, Orissa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands participated in it. The rally sought to mark the occasion of Santhal Rebellion day when Adivasis fou- ght against British for their rights. At the rally several relevant issues confronting the tribal community were discussed. “This rally is the first mega rally to be organised for Adivasis. The rally was not limited to Jharkhand, but all over India,” said national president of JDP Salkhan Murmu. “Jharkhand state was formed to address the issues of Adivasis, who have been suffering for a long time. But now only non-tribals are getting a taste of development and the government is non responsive to issues plaguing the tribals,” he said. A senior JDP activist said: “Adivasis face a lot of discrimination while seeking employment or admission at educational institutes. We need to unite and fight against all those injustice which have been meted out to us for years.” To fight against these injustice the party has formed a JDP Commando force. The force has made bombs out of cow dungs to throw at people or organisations harassing the Adivasis. “If any person or party is unjust to any Adivasi, the JDP will first peacefully try to negotiate with them. If they do not understand, we will throw dung bombs at them,” said Murmu. National vice-president Nirmal Minz and K. Tirkey, the national general secretary of the party were also present at the rally.
