| Flood victims take to streets |

Jamshedpur, June 24: About 320 flood victims today staged a road blockade at Chepapul in Azadnagar to demand compensation from the district administration. The victims, most of them women, had resorted to road blockade in the afternoon after waiting for the administrative officers since morning. The protestors were upset as the administration had not initiated relief measures despite widespread publicity. The flood victims withdrew the blockade after a team of officials led by special officer, Mango Notified Area Committee, J.P. Yadav arrived and started distributing emergency relief material. Deputy commissioner, East Singhbhum, Ravindra Agrawal said the relief work has begun and the first phase was completed today. Agrawal said the administration distributed Rs 28,50,820 among 1,084 families in the notified area committees of Jamshedpur, Mango and Jugsalai. The administration paid Rs 2,630 to each of the families, he added. According to sources, 315 families in Mango were handed over Rs 8.45 lakh as interim relief while 402 families received Rs 10.57 lakh in Jamshedpur notified area committee. In Jugsalai area, 277 families got Rs 7.28 lakh as relief fund.
