Summer at UN meet - Honour for Loyola
Jamshedpur, Jan. 25: This summer, when students would be enjoying the vacation, three pupils would be meeting dignitaries such as Kofi Annan at a conference at the UN headquarters.
Shruti Raghavan, Dhawal Shah and Abhishek Ghosh — Class XII students of Loyola — are among the 30 selected to represent the country at The Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) to be held in the USA in June. The event would be held at Washington DC and New York between June and August.
The leadership development program brings together students from across world. Some of the world’s leading names in business, policy affairs, journalism, diplomacy and academics are expected to participate in the event.
Students ensemble in biz school
Jamshedpur, Jan. 25: Over 200 management students gathered at XLRI today for their inter-college fest, Ensemble-2008.
Organised by the students’ body of XLRI, the theme of the two-day event is “Advantage India: The bird of gold spreads its wings”. The theme deals with India’s new-found status as a potential investment hub.
“Ensemble-2008 is devoted to the ‘Bird of gold’ (India), with games and events focusing on the opportunities and the potential ahead,” said Akshay, a member of external linkages. “Ensemble, as the name suggests, was started to bring together management students from across the world. It’s now a thriving mélange of case studies, business plan contests, paper presentations and strategy games,” said the spokesperson.
4-year wait to end for auto cluster
Jamshedpur, Jan. 25: After four years, the proposed auto cluster in Adityapur is all set to see the light of the day.
The director of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, New Delhi, has asked the Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada) and other industrial units at Adityapur for certain clarifications before giving the final nod.
A meeting in this connection took place between DIPP director Shashi Ranjan Kumar, state industry department secretary, Aiada secretary and representatives of Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA) at Ranchi today.
Annual Management Fest, Ensemble – 2008 kicks off today
25th Jan, Jamshedpur : XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, the oldest business school in the country, is hosting its annual management fest, Ensemble – 2008, on January 25th and 26th, 2008. Ensemble, as the name suggests, was started to bring together management students across b-schools from both India and abroad. It is now a thriving mélange of case studies, business plan contests, paper presentations and strategy games. Last year, Ensemble 2007, with the theme India Unbounded: Unleashing the Tiger, saw 200 participants from the best b-schools in India battle for top honours and a prize money of around 7.5 lakh rupees.
Jamshedpur, Jan. 24: The agony of Abhijit Mahato’s parents will end soon.
The coffin of the 29-year-old engineering research student of Duke University (USA), who was murdered in Durham last Friday, is scheduled to arrive in the steel city on January 26.
Family sources said the body has been dispatched from Durham and would land in New Delhi on Saturday morning. The body will be flown to Birsa Munda airport in Ranchi in a separate flight from New Delhi. The body is expected to arrive in Ranchi around 12.50pm.
Family sources said the body of the student would be brought to his Gamharia residence by road from Ranchi the same evening.
