Quotes @ Tatanagar

Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind...And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded with patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader, and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.

Steel city hospital faces MCI axe PDF Print E-mail

Jamshedpur, June 25: The sword of de-affiliation by Medical Council of India hangs over state-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College and Hospital for allegedly not complying with minimum standards of infrastructure and healthcare.

A key MCI functionary, Gajendra Thakur, said a medical college and hospital cannot run for long at the mercy of the council, hinting at MGM Medical College’s vulnerability of being de-affiliated.

During its inspection in 2006, MCI had recommended that the hospital authorities increase seats, upgrade — among other things — the incinerator, install an intensive care unit (ICU) and CT scan machine and fill up posts of doctors as well as paramedics.

Though the hospital set up the ICU, nothing works except the air-conditioners. Even the ventilators of the ICU are defunct.

Similarly, a defective ultrasound machine means patients rely on other clinics for the past eight months.

Talent contest in limbo PDF Print E-mail

Jamshedpur, June 25: The much-hyped Miss Jharkhand 2008 Talent Contest ran into rough weather when a contestant alleged that she was asked to pay a bribe of Rs 15,000 against an assured win by the organiser of the show.

Prerna Bhatt, daughter of a constable of Golmuri police station, alleged that branch manager of Bright Star, a Ranchi-based NGO, who is organising the show has asked her to pay Rs 15,000 apart from asking her to come alone to a beauty parlour.

The organiser Ajay Singh denied these allegations at a news conference which was held today.

“I deny these allegations and would not like to dwell on this matter. Prerna Bhatt is my child and I am like her father. If a child says something like this it is my duty and responsibility to ignore it and not get agitated,” he said, adding that this incident was a serious blow to everyone who are involved with this contest.
