Jamshedpur, Jan. 25: Over 200 management students gathered at XLRI today for their inter-college fest, Ensemble-2008. Organised by the students’ body of XLRI, the theme of the two-day event is “Advantage India: The bird of gold spreads its wings”. The theme deals with India’s new-found status as a potential investment hub. “Ensemble-2008 is devoted to the ‘Bird of gold’ (India), with games and events focusing on the opportunities and the potential ahead,” said Akshay, a member of external linkages. “Ensemble, as the name suggests, was started to bring together management students from across the world. It’s now a thriving mélange of case studies, business plan contests, paper presentations and strategy games,” said the spokesperson. Today the inaugural event was Idea Summit, which was followed by Big Bazaar, a quiz and a flagship game — Discessio Imperators. The topic for this year’s Idea Summit was “India: Domestic and global inclusion for sustainable growth”. The B-schools present at the festival are the six IIMs, KJ Somaiya and the IIFT apart from the host. The event would conclude with a rocking performance by the Parikrama, India’s premier band, on Saturday.
