Jamshedpur, April 28: There will be no respite from the sweltering condition at least in the next 72 hours. The meteorological department today warned of a heatwave condition in various parts of the state as there is no possibility of rainfall in the next three days. “The maximum temperature will continue to rise due to the westerly winds dominating the state. We find no signs of rain in the chart analysis. In the prevailing condition, the mercury is likely to reach 45°C in the next 72 hours,” said T.N. Jha, the director of Patna meteorological office. The Patna Met office today issued heatwave warning for Daltonganj, Gumla, Koderma, Hazaribagh and Singhbhum-Kolhan region. “The satellite pictures suggested that there will be no change in the wind pattern for some more days. There are also no chances of formation of cumulonimbus clouds which generally bring rains,” added Jha. Statistics of the meteorological department revealed a rising trend of maximum temperature in almost all the districts of the state, especially those located in the hills and plateaus. Daltonganj tops the list with the maximum temperature crossing the 43°C mark. On Saturday, Daltonganj recorded the highest temperature of the season when the mercury hit the 43.2°C mark. In Jamshedpur and other areas in Singhbhum-Kolhan region, the mercury has crossed the 42°C mark. In Jamshedpur, the hottest day of the season so far was on April 24, when the mercury recorded 42.9°C. The Regional Meteorological Centre at Alipore also issued a heatwave warning for Jharkhand and Bihar. “The heatwave in some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar is expected to abate in the next few days. The depression that originated 550km east of Chennai will not have any impact on the weather condition of Jharkhand. The depression is moving in the north-westerly direction towards the Andhra coast,” said the duty officer at Alipore. Meanwhile, following directives issued by the district administration, the schools in the city conducted classes from 6.30-10.30am. The district collectorate is closely monitoring the situation and with any further rise in temperature, the schools may be asked to close for an early summer vacation.
