Jamshedpur, Oct. 13: A delegation of Intuc led by working president of Telco Workers’ Union R.B.B. Singh met East Singhbhum superintendent of police and urged the latter to conduct an impartial probe into the alleged sex scandal involving an office-bearer of the union. At the meeting the delegation tried to drive home the point that the alleged sex scandal involving the union’s vice-president Shatrughna Singh was a ploy by a section of disgruntled trade union members to malign the image of the present office-bearers. Superintendent of police Naveen Kumar Singh assured the members that he would look into the matter and had assigned deputy superintendent of police (city) Madhusudan Bari to investigate the case. Santosh Singh, a member of Telco Workers’ Union, said the alleged sex scandal is a ploy to tarnish the reputation of the members by some former union officials. Singh added that the former union officials have been trying for some time to implicate Shatrughna Singh and the general secretary Chandrabhan Singh in a criminal case. Madhusudan Bari said preliminary investigation suggests that the Telco Workers’ Union general secretary Chandrabhan Singh was not present anywhere close to the scene. “But nothing can be said conclusively about the incident,” he said. Meanwhile, court of chief judicial magistrate P.K. Moitra today rejected the bail petition of Shatrughna Singh and the woman involved in the alleged scandal. On October 6, Shatrughna Singh was allegedly found in a compromising position with a middle-aged woman at an apartment near River View Puja Pandal. The duo was booked under Immoral Traffic Act. As the union vice-president fell sick, he was admitted to MGM Medical College and Hospital’s prisoner ward. He was forwarded to the jail on Saturday.
