Jamshedpur Co-operative College (JCC) began as a morning tutorial college 57 years ago. Today, it offers graduate, postgraduate and law degrees and is about to start an MBA course.

The morning tutorial college began in September 1, 1949. Four years later, the Jamshedpur Educational and Cultural Co-operative Society Limited was formed and the tutorial college was made a constituent of the society.

In 1954, Bihar University granted affiliation to the college’s arts and commerce departments. The institution was later renamed Jamshedpur Co-operative College.

When Ranchi University came into existence in 1960, JCC began offering BSc in physics, chemistry and mathematics. In 1976, it became a constituent college of Ranchi University. The law college was established in 2006.

Significantly, an archery training centre has been started at the college. JCC grounds have hosted U-17 matches of the BCCI. Talks are on to conduct Ranji-level matches on the college grounds.
