Profile The setting up of the Jamipol plant was a significant landmark in the Indian steel industry, making available a high-tech product essential to the steel-making process indigenously. Located in Jamshedpur, the plant was constructed at a cost of Rs 20 crore. It has a production capacity of 15,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of DC on a single-shift operation which can be increased to 40,000 tpa. Under an exclusive licence and know-how agreement with SKW Stahl-Technik GmbH, Jamipol utilises state-of-art technology to produce DCs of the highest quality. The company is in the process of setting-up a second unit of similar capacity at Toranagallu in Karnataka, which is scheduled to commence operations in early 2006. Areas of business Jamipol today caters to the entire domestic requirement of CADs, which includes supplies to Tata Steel, SAIL and Jindal Vijayanagar Steel. Besides the supply of DCs, Jamipol has also been providing application know-how and support service to its customers with assistance from its collaborator under the technology arrangement. Jamipol has obtained ISO 9001-2000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification. Contact Jamipol South Works
