Sports is 'a way of life' at Tata Steel and Jamshedpur's reputation as the sports capital of Jharkhand is a consequence of this philosophy. Under the close supervision of skilled coaches, training is imparted to sports persons to excel at national and international level competitions.
Keenan Stadium
Kenan Memorial Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Jamshedpur, India. It is currently used mostly for cricket matches. The stadium is named after John Lawrence Keenan, a former general manager of the Tata Steel. The stadium is situated in Northern Town area of Bistupur & is owned by Tata Steel. It has a seating capacity of approximately 20,000 people.Since being built in 1939 the ground has hosted Ranji Trophy matches for the Bihar now Jharkhand cricket team. The venue staged its first international match in December 1983 when West Indies beat India in a One Day International. The ground has staged a further 9 One Day International matches.
Sumant Moolgaonkar Stadium
This 10,000-seat capacity stadium in Tata Motors colony has hosted many national and state athletic meets.
JRD Tata Sports Complex
The JRD Tata Sports Complex has an international standard football ground and an eight-lane monosynthetic track. The Tata Chess Centre, ladies fitness gymnasium and the Tata Archery Academy are also based here. Facilities for handball, tennis, volleyball, hockey, basketball, boxing, table tennis and a modern gymnasium are available at the complex. The sports hostel at the complex can comfortably accommodate over 500 persons.
Tata Steel Adventure Foundation
TSAF is an umbrella organisation, it manages adventure activities for Tata Steel employees, their families and residents of Jamshedpur. The foundation arranges wide variety of adventure sports, such as rock climbing, river rafting, parasailing, etc.TSAF focuses on helping people discover things for themselves. While the programme is challenging and stimulating, a lot of thought goes in creating a safe and supportive environment, so as to bring out the best in you.
Tata Football Academy
The objective of Tata Football Academy is to nurture and train budding footballers in the most scientific way with the sole purpose of improving the standard of Indian Football and be a nursery for producing outstanding players for the Indian National Team.
Tata Archery Academy
Tata Archery Academy was formally inaugurated by Dr.J.J.Irani ,the then Managing Director, of Tata Steel on 4th October 1996 with the unfurling its flag and release of its logo. With this single gesture the life’s and hopes of many a youngster, especially from the Eastern Singhbhum area, where the Steel major Tata Steel is located, received a boost.

The Jamshedpur Gliding Club, the Jamshedpur Co-operative Flying Club and Tatanagar Aviation offer wide scope for 'extra-terrestrial' sporting activities, such as gliding and flying.
