The environment friendly city Long before environment became a cause and ‘ecosystem’ a buzzword, Tatanagar has been planting trees, creating a milieu where industry and environment co-exist in harmony. It is a city that has proved that the progress of an industry, the welfare and health of the people and the environment are all inextricably linked. Today, greenery is a part of the Works and the cityscapes. But it is more than greenery that has made Tatanagar an environment-friendly city. Recycling plants save on water. And new treatment plants keep the rivers sparkling. Efforts are made to raise levels of awareness and concern for the environment amongst residents. And, at the center of it all, the new Environment Management Division oversees all these activities, in keeping with the city’s sustainable development. Tatanagar never fails to capture the imagination of the visitor with its intriguing steel sculptures, verdant beauty, blossoming colors and magnificent illuminations. It is a city with hundreds of acres of parks and gardens, cared for and maintained to perfection. A process, vitalized by continuous regeneration and renewal. In the year 1991-92 alone, over 45,500 plants were planted by the city administration. Though much has been accomplished, much more remains to be done. Because there is only one way that Tatanagar can pass a gift of the Founder to its children—bequeath them a Steel City that remains evergreen.
Green City Jamshedpur, as the burgeoning township of Sakchi was re-named in 1919 as a tribute to Tata Steel's Jubilee Park Jamshedpur's landscape is dotted with numerous well-planned and meticulously maintained recreational spots. The city boasts of 17 small and large parks. They provide much-needed relief from the pressures of everyday life. The lush green Jubilee Park, spread over 225 acres, adorned with flower beds, gardens and illuminated fountains was presented by the Steel Company to the citizens of Jamshedpur in its Golden Jubilee Year. Sir Dorabji Tata Park Manicured lawns, flower beds and brilliantly lit fountains provide a delightful touch of colour to the park.

Jubilee Amusement Park The park has redefined entertainment in the Steel City. A special gift to the children of Jamshedpur, the amusement park provides entertainment that is available in far away metros only. The green hillocks and the waterbody provide a wonderful ambience for an outing where games like whirling in the wind, dashing cars, rolling till the moon, derby riding, caterpillar ride and a 75-meter slide can be enjoyed.

Founder, is India's first planned industrial and most cosmopolitan city. It is a model of harmonious co-existence of industry and environment, with acres of verdant parks and gardens dotting the city and providing bucolic sanctuaries from the pressures of everyday life. New lungs are added every year to re-emphasise Tata Steel's commitment to cleaner and greener Jamshedpur. Tree plantation, an ongoing activity, found remarkable expression through the Green Millennium Countdown. This unique programme has given one and a half million additional healthy trees in the new millennium in company areas.
Located only a few kilometers away from the Steel Plant is the Zoo which houses a variety of animals and birds. The Safari Park in the zoo enables visitors to take a drive through a wooded area where animals roam free and uncaged. A visit to the Nature Education Centre, a boat ride in the Jubilee Lake or a walk in the Nature Trail are unique outlets to relax. The co-existence of wild life in close proximity to the Steel Plant is evidence of the excellent balance of industry with nature.
