Hardeep Gill would set up an animation academy 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Jamshedpur Sikh boy Hardeep Singh Gill have good news for people who want to make a career in animation.

Animator and founder of Pumpkin Academy of Digital Arts Hardeep Singh Gill would set up an animation academy in Jamshedpur soon.

Winning the Best Animation School Reel Award in Miami in May this year has boosted Gill’s confidence in creating awareness and imparting the education about animation in his hometown.

“In metropolitan cities animation is a huge success. Knowledge and training about animation is wanting in smaller cities. There are a lot of talent in these places and with proper training people here would do good for themselves and for the animation industry. Although I have set up the animation academy in Delhi first and then in Ahmedabad but now I want to set it up in Jamshedpur. The academy will impart quality education at par with international standard,” said Gill.

Pumpkin Academy of Digital Arts has used 3D animated films as a platform to educate the people about some important issues plaguing the country and the environment. The New Delhi branch of the academy has to its credit films like Mere paas aao mere doston, Big B, a 3D animated film on Amitabh Bachchan, Wide-eyed ignorance, a documentary on smoking, Female foeticide and Lakdi ki Kaathi, based on the famous song from the film Masoom.

Gill, who was a jury member at animation Super Pitch in Singapore in 2006, is looking forward to setting up the institute at Bistupur or Sakchi and the institute would start teaching students from later this year.

His film Bombblast awareness has been adopted by Delhi police and is being screened at shopping malls, multiplexes and by local cable networks to spread awareness about bomb blast.

“After visiting places like Walt Disney, Universal Studios, I found that there is a huge difference in their teaching methods and ours. They are more professional and they do a lot of research and then make a movie with proper vision. We try to imitate rather than create something original. Animation is not all about technology and involves a huge amount of creativity. We have planned our curriculum keeping that in mind,” said Gill.

At the academy he would teach the students softwares like PhotoShop, Illustrator, Maya and Zbrush for teaching students graphic designing and 3D animation.

“These days there are plenty of opportunities in the field of animation and I want students from my hometown to get international recognition in this field. Currently, I am making infotainment films, the next one is Keep your city clean, a film based on littering public places,” said Gill.
