Jamshedpur Forum, a socio-cultural organisation in Calcutta, would organise a cultural event on September 14 at Rabindra Bhavan auditorium.
The event is being organised to celebrate the forum’s silver jubilee this year and Tata Steel’s centenary celebrations. A documentary on Homage to Tata by Amalan Kumar Bose, the joint secretary of Jamshedpur Forum, would be shown at the cultural evening.
“The cultural programme will be a tribute to J.N. Tata. We have captured 100-year-old journey of Tata Steel in the 42 minutes documentary. There are some early photographs of Kalimati as the city was earlier known,” said Bose.
A dance performance by Gharana and Rangakarmee from Calcutta would stage a drama called Mukti. The play is written, directed and acted by theatre personality Usha Ganguly.
The Jamshedpur Forum, that consists of 130 members, is planning on social work on behalf of the company. “We plan to donate an ambulance or a bed to a hospital in Calcutta in the name of Tata and Jamshedpur,” said Bose.
This will be the first event of Jamshedpur Forum in the steel city. “We want people in other parts of the country and Jamshedpur to know about the steel city and its beauty. So, we have arranged this show here itself this year, he said.
