Jamshedpur, Aug. 24: He came, conquered and left his fans asking for more. His take on serious political issues, evergreen dialogues and familiar baritone made film star and BJP star campaigner Shatrughan Sinha the darling of the masses. The entertainer however did not completely overshadow the politician. Sinha said that the present UPA government both in the state and the centre was a complete let down. Amidst demands of famous “Abe chup” dialogue, Sinha, dressed in impeccable black, attacked the present the UPA government for its profiteering motive without service for the masses. “I joined politics because I was inspired by Jaiprakash Narayan whose ideal was ‘power for service.’ Today power is being misused for profit,” thundered Sinha. “Hum jante hain ki satta seva ka madhyam hai magar abhi jo satta chala rahen hai unhone use mewa ka madhyam banadiya hai (We knew power was for service but now those who are in power are using for personal profit),” said the Bihari babu, addressing a huge crowd at the Aambagaan Maidan here today. Sinha also attacked the UPA government for the much-hyped nuke deal between India and USA. “If the deal is done, all the nuclear reactors of India would come under direct control of America,” said Sinha. “Whatever nuclear weapons were made during the BJP rule at the centre would be given away to America, an anti-national project of the UPA government,” added Sinha. Breaking away from the national issues, Sinha said that a win for party candidate Dinesh Kumar Sarangi would not bring in any revolution but it would at least lay the foundation of one. Commenting on his journey from Ranchi to Jamshedpur, Sinha spoke about the poor condition of the National Highway and even went on to say that roads in Bihar were better. Sinha also touched on issues of inflation. The consummate actor in him charmed audiences with his multilingual skills. “Bhojpuri mein bhi hoyi aar bangla teo hobe (I will talk in Bhojpuri as well as Bangla),” said he, to the crowd’s delight, rains and the star’s delayed arrival all forgiven. Sinha was accompanied by former foriegn minister Yashwant Sinha and BJP MLAs Raghubar Das, Saryu Roy and Ramesh Singh Munda. Yashwant Sinha’s pithy dubbing of the Koda government as “Kura” (garbage) government was also memorable, as he went on to cite the murder of Sudhir Mahto as the biggest instance of the government’s failure. Meanwhile Union minister of state for food processing, Subodh Kant Sahay today said that the high command of Congress Party would assess a report card of developmental work carried out during regime of chief minister, Madhu Koda in Sepetember. Sahay pointed out that the recent controversy of corruption that rocked state assembly over issue of Vinod Sinha was a serious issue. “It would be better if the chief minister explains his link with Sinha. The centre will assess the developmental work and corruption exposed during Koda’s regime," Sahay said, adding that the chief minister would have to explain the “magnitude of corruption exposed by the opposition party at the floor of assembly”.
