Jamshedpur, May 15: Director of National Institute of Technology (NIT)-Rourkela S.K. Sarangi today visited the NIT-Jamshedpur campus and addressed the faculty members and students. However, he could not take charge as the institute director.

The absence of acting director Akhileswar Mishra forced Sarangi to postpone the charge-taking formality by two weeks. The date of his assuming office is yet to be finalised.

“I was here to take charge as the NIT-Jamshedpur director from the acting director. But, I learnt that the professor is yet to return from the NIT directors’ meet in New Delhi,” said Sarangi.

Sarangi told The Telegraph that he would occupied with work at Rourkela for the next two weeks. Hence, he would be able to take charge of NIT-Jamshedpur only after a fortnight.

Jamshedpur, May 15: Pappu Sardar, a die-hard fan of Madhuri Dixit, today gifted the inmates of Cheshire Home an elaborate party on the occasion of the glamour queen’s birthday.

Twenty-five specially abled people of the home enjoyed themselves to the hilt at the bash.

Pappu not only hosted a cake cutting ceremony, but also distributed food packets to them.

He put up a large number of food stalls and ensured that nothing went wrong at the party.

But Pappu’s celebrations were not confined to partying only. He promised a room for doctors at the Cheshire Home by Raksha Bandhan this year.

“Doctors do visit the Cheshire Home, but there is no designated room for them with all the medical equipment,” said Pappu Sardar, who is also the owner of the popular Manohar Chaat shop in Sakchi.
