A socio-cultural institution in Jamshedpur known as “The Maharashtra Hitkari Mandal” is situated in Bistupur area. It was established in 1970. It is a center of activities of Marathi language and literature. Great personalities have visited here. Every year on the occasion of Sri Ganesh Puja a grand program is observed for a week and every day Marathi Drama is staged here. Dr. S.D.Joshi, Dr.S.J.Kale and Mr. Sane, Dr. Deshmukh and Mr. & Mrs. Sathey are actively associated with this since its beginning. The Mandal also runs an English Medium School called “Samarth Vidya Mandir” and a canteen.
